That would be what the shape your set is. There’s a difference between shape and fullness! Sure, I can help explain the difference between lash curl, shape, style, and fullness for lash extensions! Lash curl refers to the degree of upward curve in the lashes, like “C” or “D” shape. Lash shape refers to the overall design of the lash line, like cat-eye or doll-eye shape. Lash style refers to the specific look you want to achieve, like natural or dramatic. Lash fullness refers to the density of lashes, from light and wispy to thick and voluminous. Whenever you come in for a consultation your artist can be creative with shapes, styles, and curls. The most important information we need is how full you want your lashes and which style. Isolation in placement are the most important aspects of applying lashes. There can be no clumping so always check for stickies before your client leaves your bed! Natural lashes need to grow with extensions, so they need to be placed 0.5-2mm away from the lash line. They should never be touching the skin! Choosing the right extension size is also super important! Pick the right length, thickness, and curl to match the natural lashes. Be mindful of how your clients lashes are reacting to the lashes you placed. Are their lashes growing as they should be? Are the lashes brittle and breaking? All things to think about when they come in for fills. The technician should use a special, semi-permanent glue that doesn’t touch your skin or eyelid. It’s about attaching the extension to a SINGLE isolated lash . avoid stickies at all costs! This prevents any unnecessary weight on your natural lashes, which can cause breakage if not done right. Keeping up with aftercare is just as important as choosing the right artist! No picking, pulling, or touching!! The only object you need to touch your lashes with is a spoolie and lash cleanser! If you ever feel like your natural lashes are weaker or thinner, it might be time to take a break from extensions and let them recover. Everyone talks about healthy lashes but how do you know your artist is really telling the truth? Well the work speaks for itself! This client has been coming to me every two weeks continuously for over 2 years with no breaks. This is what healthy lash growth should look like! Long, beautiful, full natural lashes. If you get your lashes done and you notice any pain after you leave your appointment, this is typically a red flag. Lashes shouldn’t hurt during, or after your appointment. There are exceptions like allergic reactions, those can happen to anyone at any time regardless of how long you have been getting extensions. When your lashes shed and you notice multiple natural lashes stuck to one lash or multiple extensions clumped together, this is a huge red flag. Lashes extensions need proper isolation. Sometimes you may even be isolating properly as an artist but not re checking for any stickies at the end of a set. Another indication of improperly application can be the artist not properly explaining the care or process of lash extensions. Look on artists pages at pictures of their work… Do they have any photos showing their POV of the lashes? Do they have good reviews? Do the lashes look messy or out of place in photos? These are all things you should be on the look out for when finding a lash artist! And always remember usually in this industry, you get what you pay for ! If you are coming in for a fullset please come in clean of any makeup. This makes the process of your appointment faster and makes sure everything starts off smoothly! 3. Try to avoid oily products on your face around your eyes. If you put oil near your eyes your retention could be greatly affected! Did you know that our lashes, just like the hair on our heads, go through different stages of growth? The first phase is called the anagen phase, which is the active growth phase. During this time, lashes are actively growing. Most of the NLs in this phase are too small and brittle to lash. Be careful when determining the properly weight and length to apply. After the anagen phase comes the catagen phase, which is a transitional phase. In this stage, the lash follicles shrink and detach from the blood supply, preparing for the next phase. Mostly all of NL are safe to lash in this phase. It’s important to note that not all NL are in the same phase at the same time, which is why we don’t experience lash shedding all at once. Next up is the telogen phase, also known as the resting phase. During this phase, the lash follicles are at rest and no longer growing. These are completely safe to lash! When they start shedding that’s just a lash on its normal cycle! The shedding phase, also known as the exogen phase. This is when the old lashes naturally fall out to make room for new ones. On average, we can lose about one to five lashes per day. It’s important to avoid excessive rubbing or pulling on your lashes, as this can disrupt the growth cycle and lead to lash damage. To maintain healthy lashes, it’s essential to take care of them. You can do this cleansing your lashes daily, avoiding harsh rubbing or pulling, using the proper oil free products, and no face sleeping! In this industry, people can definitely try to take advantage of your kindness for weakness. But as an artist myself, I’m not out here to nickel and dime clients. Just like life happens for us, life happens for clients to. You can’t time being sick. I would rather a client not come in and risk spreading the virus to meet and others. It’s best to just reschedule when you’re feeling better! Although I do not give a lash bath before every appointment, I will not charge for one if needed. If the lashes are dirty, I will take upon myself to clean them, and then explain to the client how to properly clean their lashes. It only takes about five minutes, and it adds to the luxury experience without needing to pay a price! I can say that I have not had many experiences with lashes falling off within the first week of their appointment. But that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened before! If that’s the case, they already paid for a full set. so in most cases, I don’t feel the need to charge extra for fixing my mistake! to help clients understand the importance of cleaning their Lashes, I supply a free mini lash cleanser at the fullset appointment! Most of the clients would buy cleanser kits after their appointments, but for those who didn’t I wanted to make sure that everyone was cleaning their Lashes properly! If I gave them a cleanser, there was no excuse! 😉 I have a lash artist you have to decide what things you want to charge extra for and what things you want to let slide. When you first start doing lashes, everyone knows that you start off by learning classic and then moving onto volume. Once you have been lashing for a while, you start to develop a certain style in your lashing. The more you lashed more you realize what you like to do more. Most of my clients started off by getting classic, and all of them worked their way up to getting volume. Once almost all of my clients started to get volume, I realize that’s what I preferred to do. You want to offer the set that you want to do and see most. The more you promote offer that said, the more clients you’ll get in that chair who want that set. This is your business after all so make of it what you want! I mastered the wet set for my natural clients who didn’t want a full volume look but wanted something a little more than classic. Creating colored sets are so fun! Starting off can be tricky but once you have the basics down you can create so many different sets! Always place the colored fans on the bottom layer of the lashes. This way they won’t be hidden in top layer and will show better. Using 1 mm or 2 smaller can also make the colored lash stand out a little better from the rest. Also using .07 or .05 diameters are best to use when using colored lashes. .03s are a bit too thin, you want thicker lashes. But make sure to make the weight of your fans accordingly🥰 Try to stick with brighter or lighter colors. Dark blues and purples can be harder to see when mixed in with black. The brighter the color, the better. When using a darker color I like the put a lighter color, of the same color, in front of it. For example, if the client wanted to throw in some dark blue, I would put the darker blue Lashes in the middle or top layers of the lash line. Then I would put a lighter blue on the bottom layer 1 or 2 mm shorter to make the darker color pop out. Using a clear glue is the best for colored sets! That way the ends of the lashes don’t darken and it doesn’t take away any color. The possibilities are endless when it comes to color!
