Excell Red Light - Wavelength & Benefits

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?
]

Red Light Therapy uses a combination of Red Light and Near Infrared Light to increase the production of ATP at a cellular level in your body. ATP, which stands for adenosine triphosphate simply means our body’s energy. The more ATP or energy we produce, the more efficiently our cell’s function. Whereas UV light and other forms of light energy, such as blue light are only capable of penetrating the surface layers of our skin. Red Light and Near Infrared wavelengths penetrate deep into our body all the way to our organs producing positive cellular vitality.

Increased ATP or energy in your body allows for increased functionality of your cells. This increased metabolic processing results in accelerating your normal bodily functions. For example, when a muscle is fatigued from working out the body must repair the muscle and remove lactic acids. The goal of our workouts is to reinvigorate the muscles, making them firmer and more defined. With Red Light therapy, this simply happens much faster and better.

What Are The Properties And Benefits Of Red Light?

The benefits realized from a Medical Grade Red Light system are endless. The key element is what wavelengths are incorporated into your treatment. When using only 633nm, you are missing most benefits available from PBM or Photobiomodulation, also known as Low Level Light Therapy. Each wavelength provides its own attributes and using these in conjunction with each other produces better results in less time.

EXCELL has designed systems which use a variety of wavelengths designed to achieve specific outcomes. EXCELL’s technology is backed by over 400 randomized, double blind, placebo controlled clinical studies performed worldwide over the past decade. For example, our Rejuve system focuses primarily on skin rejuvenation and cellular health, whereas our Spectrum system is focused on all aspects of integrating Red Light and Near Infrared from 440nm all the way to 1050 to provide the best overall wellness experience to your customer. As you can see from the following specifications, each EXCELL system uses specific wavelengths to achieve optimum efficacy of treatment.

red light therapy Frequently Asked Questions

  • Whats is LED Light Therapy?

In its most basic definition, infrared LED light therapy is the application of specific wavelengths of light energy to the body to upregulate cellular performance and achieve therapeutic benefits, including treatment for acne, anti-aging, pain management, wound healing and even hair restoration. It is a cost effective and non-invasive treatment option.

    What the reasearch says…

Infrared LED light therapy has been studied and tested in thousands of clinical trials over the past few decades, and it has proven to be a safe and effective treatment option with no negative, harmful, or long-term side effects.

No matter what your body or skin care routine, red light therapy can provide some amazing benefits and reduce those under eye wrinkles and the fine lines as well. Unlike with the use of lasers, there’s no risk of burning the skin, rather RLT is an effective, non-invasive, side-effect free treatment option.

  • What is Red LED Light Therapy?

Red and infrared LED light therapy is the application of specific wavelengths of light energy to human tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits. Red and infrared wavelengths penetrate deep into the skin’s dermal and subcutaneous layer to specifically target cells at the source. The energy absorbed by the cells is then used to naturally improve cellular performance. The visible results include an improvement in the tone and texture of the skin as well as a reduction of inflammation.

  • How does Red LED Light TherapyWork ?

Like plants absorb sunlight to power photosynthesis and boost tissue growth, human cells can absorb light energy to stimulate cellular function and enhance overall cellular performance. An example of this are fibroblasts upregulating to increase the production of collagen and elastin. Red light therapy also boosts circulation to deliver oxygen and nutrients to living tissues.

    Effects of Rejuvenating the Skin..

Human cells can absorb particles of light (photons) and transform that energy into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the main source of energy that cells need to power metabolic processes. The resulting elevation of ATP is then used to upregulate cellular performance and repair tissue damage. When your body absorbs particular wavelengths of light energy, it converts that energy to produce more ATP, thus boosting the body’s natural ability to regain and maintain vitality. The results may reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as inflammation in the body.

  • What Can Red LED Light Therapy Do?

    • Inflammation from psoriasis
    • Fine lines, wrinkles, and sun spots
    • Recurring cold sores from herpes virus
    • Scar tissue formation/appearance
    • Muscle and joint recovery after physical activity
    • Itching from eczema
    • Muscle stiffness and spasms
    • Reduce appearance of stretch marks

  • Is Red Light Therapy Safe?

Red light therapy is safe and clinically proven for the treatment of a variety of skin and pain management conditions. Red light therapy is also non-toxic, non-invasive, and a cost effective alternative to prescription drugs, invasive surgery and harsh topical skin treatments.

  • What are the Side Effects of Red LED Light Therapy?

In general, side effects from Red Light Therapy are rare. If they do occur, they typically involve temporary redness of the skin in the treated area. Side effects are minor and do not last long. Red light therapy treatment is non-invasive, painless, requires no recovery time, and can be used on all skin types and tones.

  • How often should I use Red Light LED Therapy?

It’s ideal to start off with a frequency of 3-5 days per week for the first month, and then you can decline your session frequency to 1-2 times per week. RLT is more effective if you keep up with treatments on a regular basis. For anti-aging, for example, it recommends 2-3 treatments per week. Keep in mind that light therapy is cumulative so more is better, be sure to consult with your physician or skin therapist for treatment guidance.

  • Who should NOT use Red Light Therapy?

Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation or low-level laser therapy (LLLT), is generally considered safe for most people. However, there are a few cases where caution is recommended or the therapy should be avoided altogether:

    • Photosensitivity: People with photosensitive conditions, such as lupus or porphyria, should avoid red light therapy, as their skin may be more sensitive to light exposure and could cause an adverse reaction.
    • Pregnancy: Pregnant women should consult with their healthcare provider before using red light therapy. There is limited research on the effects of red light therapy on pregnant women, and it is better to err on the side of caution.
    • Epilepsy: People with epilepsy or a history of seizures should be cautious, as the pulsing lights in some red light therapy devices may trigger a seizure.
    • Cancer: For individuals with cancer, especially skin cancer, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional before using red light therapy. Some studies suggest that red light therapy may promote cell growth, which could be detrimental for those with cancerous tumors.
    • Certain Eye conditions: While red light therapy is generally safe for the eyes, those with pre-existing eye conditions or who are taking medications that increase light sensitivity should exercise caution and consult their healthcare provider.
    • Medications: Some medications can cause increased sensitivity to light, including certain antibiotics, diuretics, and retinoids. If you're taking medications that increase photosensitivity, consult with your healthcare provider before using red light therapy.
    • Pacemaker / other implanted electronic device: If you have a pacemaker or any other implanted electronic device, it's important to consult with your healthcare provider or the device manufacturer before using red light therapy. Although red light therapy does not typically interfere with pacemakers, it's always best to seek professional advice to ensure your safety. It may also be worth considering a shielded device like our new Pulsing models as well as using from a distance of 24" away or more to minimize any possible EMI interference.

Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting red light therapy, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or concerns. They can provide guidance on whether the therapy is appropriate for your specific situation and ensure that you are using it safely.

  • What medications interact with red light therapy?

If you use medications such as Tetracycline, Digoxin (used for heart irregularities) and photosensitizing drugs (e.g., tranquilizers, sulfa drugs, oral anti-diabetic drugs, antidepressants, and steroids), please consult your physician before using Red Light.

  • Does red light therapy treatment have the same effect for all skin types?

Red light treatment is safe and effective for all skin types and pigmentation. It is important that skin is clean for effective light transmission. Oils and other debris that may build up on the skin during the day will interfere with the light and lessen its effect.

  • How long does it take to feel/see results?

Red light therapy is appropriate in the treatment of a variety of conditions because it works both quickly and over time. In other words, some patients see an improvement in their condition right after the first red light therapy session and continue to see improvements after sessions throughout the following weeks

8 weeks of consistent use is the rule of thumb to see more dramatic effects.

Why 8 weeks? This is the length of most skin benefit studies.

For other uses like muscle soreness and joints some feel a difference right away and for others it can take up to 8 hrs after use to feel the full effects.

Beyond that for the more systemic whole body health benefits (like muscle growth during strength training) it can take several weeks of using multiple times a week in order to feel a difference. For best results we recommend treating for 5 days, then taking 2 days off, then repeating this cycle.

Remember the way it works is by helping your cells do their job better, so it's still up to your cells to do the work once they've gotten the boost from the RedRush. So if you want to boost results, eat well, stay hydrated, and make sure to relieve stress as much as possible.

  • How do you get the best results from red light therapy?

The more frequent you use LED Light Therapy, the quicker you will see results. Start with three a week, and more up to five times a week if your schedule allows. The most important part is to be consistent to see results.

Use the right products!  For best results, it's always recommended to use RESTORED LED products on a clean face. This allows the light therapy to effectively penetrate the skin without any barriers.

For the best results when searching for a serum to use post-red light therapy, look for products containing retinol, argan oil, peptides, or vitamin C. Retinoids are products containing retinol — also known as vitamin A.

  • Can you overdo LED light therapy?

You can't overdo LED light therapy. In fact, it responds well to multiple weekly uses.

  • What is the duration of?

A session is 20 minutes. Users may exit at any time prior to the expiration of their session.

The session will automatically shut off at the conclusion of each session.

  • Do you need goggles with red light therapy?

Yes, we recommend wearing RLT darkened specific eyewear.

It is not required by law that you wear eye protection, nevertheless the lights are very bright and may be uncomfortable for some individuals.

  • Should you wear clothes during red light therapy?

Lighter garments like underwear, bras, shorts, and socks may be worn without hampering a treatment, though the covered areas will receive a diminished intensity.

Ideally you want to have as much bare skin as possible while doing your red light therapy treatment. Definitely no clothing in the area you are going to treat.

  • What not to do before red light therapy?

Don't Wear Sunscreen Before the Treatment

  • Should I drink water before red light therapy?

  • Should you drink water after red light therapy?

Hydrate! Water is essential for cellular processes.. Make sure to drink extra water and eat well so your cells have all the fuel they need.

  • Can I use my phone during red light therapy?

Please refrain from using cell phones or other electronic devices during the treatment.

  • Can you use hyaluronic acid with red light therapy?

This will help your skin absorb the red light waves more effectively and promote better results in reducing breakouts. If you have dry or sensitive skin, an anti-aging serum containing hyaluronic acid can also be used before red light therapy.

  • Can I use retinol after red light therapy?

How to combine red light therapy and retinol for the best results. Using retinol and light therapy together can give your skin care routine a boost. Keep in mind, you should never apply retinol before light therapy use, as your skin may react unexpectedly. However, retinol can safely be used after light therapy.
